The OECD organised an online discussion on the stocktaking report of Moldova’s policy frameworks for climate change adaptation and resilience in agriculture, especially horticulture, and future programme activities.
Participants included Moldova’s Ministries of Agriculture and Food Industry, Environment, Economic Development and Digitalisation, and Finance; the Entrepreneurship Development Organisation; the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture as well as the PROGRESS programme Consortium Partners.
The discussion underlined Moldova’s strong progress on the policy frameworks through new and revised legislation, strategies and programmes, and institutional developments, but also notable challenges, including on phytosanitary management, drought‑resistant seeds, sustainable water use and promoting organic agriculture. EU frameworks for climate change adaptation and Moldova’s alignment with them were also discussed.
The Ministries agreed to provide the OECD with two priority policy areas for targeted policy development support in future project activities.
