Within the framework of the PROGRESS project, implemented by a consortium led by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), stakeholders in Moldova’s fruit sector are increasingly exploring digital solutions to strengthen export processes and respond to evolving market requirements.
A dedicated event on the digitalisation of export processes for fruit producers and exporters took place on 2 April 2026 in Chișinău, bringing together industry representatives, technology providers and agricultural experts.
The event was organised by Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters “Moldova Fruct” with the support of the PROGRESS project, financed by the German Government and implemented in partnership with the EBA Moldova, IEF, OECD and RECC.
Practical approaches to digital export processes
The event programme focused on concrete tools and approaches that can support exporters in improving efficiency and meeting international requirements. Particular attention was given to compliance with European Union standards, including the use of authorised pesticides and quality assurance mechanisms.
Participants were introduced to digital solutions that streamline export operations, including a case study on the use of ERP systems such as Odoo for managing documentation and logistics processes.
Integrating innovation and AI in the value chain
The discussions also explored the growing role of advanced technologies in the fresh produce sector. AI-powered quality control systems were presented as a means to improve product assessment and reduce losses, while digital tools for export communication can support companies in accessing and maintaining international markets.
The agenda combined expert presentations, practical examples and interactive discussions, creating space for knowledge exchange and peer learning among participants.
The initiative contributes to ongoing efforts to modernise Moldova’s fruit export sector by fostering innovation, strengthening capacities and promoting the adoption of digital solutions.
