EBA Moldova and GIZ Moldova held the second mentoring and peer learning session: "Green, resilient, and climate-oriented practices – practical aspects," as part of the #PROGRESS project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection through the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
The workshop was aimed at actors in the value chains of nut crops (walnuts, almonds) and stone fruits, with the aim of facilitating the transfer of knowledge and good practices in the field of sustainable agriculture.
Topics covered included adaptation to climate change, soil health conservation, fertilizers, and irrigation management.
Participants benefited from the contributions of Romanian farmers, who shared practical insights and recommendations from their own experience in the ongoing process of adapting to climate change, such as selecting and testing varieties that are adapted and resistant to climate change, as well as making the most of water resources.
Thus, in the two practical mentoring sessions – one held in person, the other online – five modules were covered, providing practical support to farmers specialising in horticultural production and nut growers.
